Why, hello there!
Welcome to my humble little corner of the internet. I guess you may want to know a little bit about me and what has inspired me to start writing this blog?
Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Claire and I’m a pet mum to the softest rottweiler you’ll ever meet and a loopy wee kitten. I have a wonderful partner Justin (shoutout!) who continues to encourage me to follow my passion but is also the voice of reason when I come up with some new crazy, wonderful and amazing idea…. (which happens a lot…..)
You see, I’ve always loved the ocean, animals, nature and travelling. I’ve just never known what to do with it all. I’ve always felt like a passive observer, never quite knowing how to get fully involved. I’ve volunteered at the local SPCA (oh, it broke my heart) and I’ve travelled to various places around the world doing safaris, visiting nature reserves and conservation programs.
A few years ago, I started scuba diving and completed my open water course – from there I fell totally head over heels for the underwater world. The obsession began. Not long after that, I decided to continue my diving education as a great way to build a career that I could travel the world with. I qualified as a PADI Diving Instructor in 2014. Woo!
Fast forward to current day and after years of diving and in some wonderfully exotic places, I’ve seen first hand the damage we’re doing to our oceans. Dead and broken coral reefs. Litter strewn oceans and beaches. Empty seabeds. It’s absolutely awful.
Diving just wasn’t enough anymore. I wanted to actually help the ocean…… so, recently I enrolled in University and am currently studying my way towards a Marine Ecology and Environmental Science degree. Double woo!
Which brings me to why I’m writing this blog……
I’m hoping to share things that I learn along the way and also how I’m striving to live a more sustainable and natural lifestyle and reduce my own personal impact on the environment. Hopefully you might even pick up a few things along the way too!
This is my journey to help save the world.
